Here's how it works...

  1. Fill out our form to sign up.

  2. Call Charles’ studio to schedule your session: 503-663-1513 ext 1.

  3. Bring a check for $100 made out to DoveLewis to your photographic session to guarantee your pet will have a full page in the book.

  4. Additional pets are $100 each, and they will also have a full page in the book.

  5. About a week after your photographic session, we’ll get together at the studio for a Selection Session and we’ll decide together what images go in the book!

  6. If you want any prints of the images Charles will go over every size option, every finish option, and every price at the selection session.

  7. By the way: the Selection Session is in the Home Theater at the studio and is really fun!

How to prepare for your pet's photographic session

  • Dogs: Tired and hungry is best.

  • Cats: Rested and fed is best. NOTE: we can only allow cats that travel well and are okay with unfamiliar environments.

  • Remember: patience is the key to working with pets. We allow a full hour for a session so everybody has time to get comfortable.

  • Avoid doing a grooming the day of the shoot - too much activity can be stressful.

  • Bring props of any sort! Hats, neckties, shoes, a favorite toy, a vest, ribbons, etc.

  • If your pet is aggressive with other animals, just let us know and we’ll make sure that the studio is all yours during your time (avoiding surprises is always good!)

Yes, your pet will be in the book!, and you also have the opportunity of being photographed with your pet. Charles is the premier portrait photographer in the Pacific Northwest, so take advantage of this one-time opportunity (at no extra charge).

If you have not had a family portrait done in the last few years, you can also have Charles photograph you and your family. Charles has been creating portraits for the leading families of the northwest for over a decade and has just fiunished a book to raise funds for Doernbecher Children's Hospital.

There is no charge for these add-on sessions so take advantage of this amazing offer today!

Please note that all the pets in the book will be photographed on a white background, and, for your own portraits, you can use that, or have Charles use his classical azure background. This rich and elegant style is perfect for more structured portraiture and tends to be formal. Please see below for details.

He lives on 3 acres with 2 dogs, two cats, 7 ducks, and his wife (in ascending order of importance!), he loves and understands pets, their owners, and the deep emotional bond that develops between them.
